NIHR's Vice Chairperson meets the Defender of French Human Rights Institution

On the sidelines of his visit to the French capital, Paris, His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Al Derazi, Vice Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), held a meeting with Mr. Patrick Juiten, Deputy, Vice-Chair of the Board in charge of the fight against discrimination and for the promotion of equality.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Abdullah Al Derazi, the NIHR Vice chairperson briefed Mr. Juiten on the mechanism for receiving complaints and requests for assistance made to the NIHR, in addition to the NIHR’s role for protecting and promoting human rights in line with the provisions of law on its establishment. He also referred to launching the NIHR's new website and the newly-added feature of receiving complaints through an e-form or through smart phone application, driven by the NIHR's keenness on developing and updating mechanisms of communication with the nationals and residents in Bahrain.

It is worth mentioning that the Defender of French Human Rights Institution is an authority that has been inscribed in the Constitution since the year 2008 and its law was approved in 2011. The Defender of French Human Rights Institution consists of members form the French public, the Ombudsman, Equality and Anti-Discrimination Authority, in addition to the French National Commission on Human Rights.
